Today I came across the following error below logged almost every 2 min in event viewer.
The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileImportJob threw an exception. More information is included below. Generic Error.
Upon investigation I found that the 2 FIM Services (ForeFront Identity Manager) were disabled in the Services MMC as well as in SharePoint. I set them to automatic and started the first one which is the FIM service, the FIM Syncronization service then starts as well.
Refresh the services in the SharePoint 2013 and all will be fine.
After that no more errors were logged in event viewer
